We just can’t calm down! Taylor Swift dropped her music video for her new single, “You Need to Calm Down” which proves that she and Katy’s feud is over!
Ryan Reynolds, Laverne Cox, and Katy who…?
The video made its premiere on Good Morning America Monday morning, in a set in a trailer park with a variety of Taylor’s famous friends. This includes Ryan Reynolds, Ellen DeGenerous, Laverne Cox, RuPaul, Adam Lambert, Hayley Kiyoko and her former enemy Katy Perry.
Burger and Fries
At the end of the clip, Katy is seen wearing a burger dress. She wore this to this year’s Met Gala. In the clip, she hugs it out with Taylor who is wearing a french fry costume.
The singers each posted a matching Instagram post of the iconic hug. Katy captioned hers “This meal is Beef-Free #meatfreemonday” while Taylor captioned hers, “A happy meal”
On Tuesday, Katy had teased their new collab by posting a plate of chocolate chip cookies with the words,
“Peace at last”
The stars have had a complicated history. For years their history seemed to have inspired songs like “Bad Blood” and “Swish Siwsh.”
Why the Feud in the First Place?
The feud between Taylor Swift and Katy Perry began in 213 when Katy hired three of Taylor’s back up, dancers. The three dancers Lockhart Brownlie, Leah Adler, and Scott Myrick were all close to Katy. They had toured with her before and even ended up leaving Taylor’s Red tour for Katy’s tour for her album Prism.
Later on that year, Brownlie gave an interview in which he touched on the subject.
He said, “I was with Taylor for the first six months. It was great and she’s a great person to work with. But then Katy contacted us. Obviously, we were with Katy for two and a half years, she is like family to us, so we were like, ‘absolutely’. We weren’t really dancing in Taylor’s tour anyway so I had got a little bored and really wanted to do a promo tour.”
Bad Blood… Back to Mad Love
It appears everything is good with the duo. Let’s hope it stays that way!
