Avengers: Endgame had the biggest day of presale. Tickets for MCU’s final Avenger’s showdown were released this past Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019.
Within six hours, the scramble of fans trying to get tickets left sites crashing, sold out showings, and long digital lines.
During the six hours, Fandago ticket sales knocked out Star Wars: The Force Awakens by claiming the very top spot for day one ticket sales.
Not only did Avengers: Endgame break records for ticket presales, Fandago confirmed that Tuesday was the sites best sales in over nineteen years.
The fans who were hoping to snag opening night tickets, were left frustration from all of the confusion and hassle.
The hashtag #AvengersEndgametickets was trending on Twitter, thanks for the bucket load of fans who were complaining about technical issues. Screenshots of waiting times, and crashes sites were tweeted towards Fandago and AMC, desperate for tickets.
Tickets were seen popping up on EBay, some even going for hundreds to thousands of dollars.
Avengers: Endgame is set to be a total of 3 hours 6 minutes long. This makes it the longest Marvel movie ever.
Three hours may seem like a long time, but the Russo brothers have given a good explanation.
In an interview with Total Film Magazine, the Russo brothers made it very clear that they always suspected the final film in the Avengers saga to be length-wise.
Joe Russo stated, “It’s 10 years of one of the greatest experiments in movie history coming to a close, and you know, it’s an epic narrative that’s fitting right around three hours,”
Endgame’s screenwriter Christopher Markus even chimed in. He noted that you’re basically guaranteed an expensive piece of cinema due to tying up loose ends and story lines of almost twenty movies.
“It always felt like this was not a movie that you should cut stuff out of for efficiency,” Markus said in the interview. “…I don’t think there’s anybody there who’s like, ‘OK, I’ve got to get out of there in 85 minutes, I want a nice, quick wrap-up.’ You’ve earned a long, satisfying, conclusion to the story you tell. So I don’t think there was anybody who wanted to trade it out for a speedy box-office. Even watching it, it doesn’t feel like a slog.”
This is really good news, and the wait is almost over. Fans can not wait for the movie to be released on April 26th.
